Sept 26, '07 - Rally - Equal Parents Week (EPW), September 23 – 29, 2007
We have reserved the east steps of the Michigan Capitol for a rally on Wednesday, September 26 between the hours of 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Below is a link to a video produced from the 2006 Equal Parents Week rally: Equal Parents Week brings attention to the need for both parents to share their parental rights and responsibilities equally, the right of children to be raised and nurtured by both parents, and the right of families to exist and function as a family. These are civil and human rights inherent and inalienable to all families. Recent national tragedies further highlight the importance of parents and family. Public and home candlelight vigils observing EPW will also take place on September 26 across the nation and world.

Mar 27, '07 - DADS AND MOMS OF MICHIGAN AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI - DADS and MOMS of Michigan announces the 2006 award recipients for service in supporting the role of family in supporting a healthy Michigan State and place to live and raise a family, promoting parents in children's lives. The recipients have demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to serving the Michigan community to mentor families and children, improve state agency services, and advocate for parent involvement in children's lives. The award recipients received special recognition at the DADS and MOMS of Michigan Annual Gala and Awards Banquet at the Westin Hotel in Southfield.
Michigan's children and family are challenged with an increased divorce rate and unwed parent situation. Children are suffering while State agencies focus on maintaining the status quo as family separates. Children are losing their parent and family identity, programmed by the media and government. Family values, the protection and moral compass of parents, are being sub-optimized with layered government intervention.
The recognized Legislators and Community Service people in Michigan have taken bold action to make a difference in children's lives, and make a difference for all families in Michigan.

This link lists some of the many accomplishments in 2006
Oct, '06 - October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month Domestic Violence is a problem throughout the globe. The World Health Organization weighed in on the topic several years ago and in 1994 the U.S. enacted the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), under the assumption that all domestic violence is only perpetrated by men. The military and U.S. Navy integrated women into combat positions in the late 80's and on Navy combatant ships and sexual harassment and domestic violence training was implemented. The assumption was that it is a man on women issue. A different picture has emerged. Click here to read more.
Sep 27, '06 - Restore the American Family - Equal Parents Week Rally, Wednesday September 27th, 2006
http://www.tellusnews.com/dads/
"The Best Parent is Both Parents" - EPW September 27 in Lansing was a gorgeous day as the sky opened up from the rain for an inspiring ceremony and a who's who of speakers. The program was videoed, photographed, televised, published, and broadcast by numerous media throughout the State. Coincidentally, Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan published in the September issue of Referees Quarterly an article expounding on the family issues DOM has been advocating, which is children are significantly better off with both parents involvement, even if the parents are divorced or unwed. During EPW, we celebrate parenting and the wonderful contribution each parent can make in a Childs life. We need to encourage more of this. Click here to read more.

Nov, 05 - WNEM TV5 I-Team Investigation: DNA Daddy (Paternity Fraud)
Doug Richardson was 19 years old when he learned his girlfriend was pregnant. He married the woman, and a baby boy was on the way. Richardson says he and his new wife named the boy after him Douglas Richardson Jr. Soon the marriage crumbled, and after a lengthy divorce Richardson found himself paying child support for the little boy. However, Richardson soon discovered he and the little boy were not even biologically related.
In the Michigan case below, which is not unique, Douglas is paying child support to the biological father of a child. The Mom was not truthful about the pregnancy and duped him into marriage. Immediately after the child was born, she divorces him and moved in with the biological father. Douglas has been paying child support for a child that is not his and he is not allow to see. Now that the Mom divorced the biological father, Douglas is paying child support to the biological Dad.
